Here is a big tip on getting the Enterprise Exchange set up on campus.
When setting up the new Enterprise Exchange profile in exchange if you are getting a “password is incorrect” error when you click on CHECK NAME go through this simple checklist:
1) Make sure your Exchange Server is correct (pitt-exch-0%.univ.pitt.edu) and replace % with whatever value CSSD has provided in the instructions.
2) Make sure the WINS server is correct. If you are getting the password incorrect error then this is probably NOT a problem since the Outlook Client is able to query the Exchange server about the username.
3) Of course make sure the username and password are correctly entered.
4) This is the nuclear option. Instead of connecting according to the instructions with username@pitt.edu or pitt\username just use the username in the username field, the password in the password field and in the Domain field put univ.pitt.edu
univ.pitt.edu is the Fully Qualified Domain Name and so far has been the magic bullet in getting past the password incorrect error that I have encountered. Thanks to JR from CSSD in pointing me in the right direction on this.
