Joe LiebermanSo Lieberman lost. Apparently he wasn’t liberal enough for liberals.

Can that be possible? Not liberal enough? No, not really. What happened is that he wasn’t liberal enough on the single issue that is energizing the Democratic majority; marching lockstep with the Anti-War zealots of the extreme left wing of the party.

Keep this in mind everytime you think about this development: Lieberman is a liberal’s liberal. His voting record for liberal causes is impressive. But also remember that although he was a Vice Presidential Candidate in the 2000 Elections, his current power ranking in Congress is an unimpressive 55 and he ranks 19th in the Party.

What Connecticut really lost was a Senator with a showy reputation but no real accomplishments behind the windowdressing. If he were not the VP nominee in 2000 would anyone have really cared if Lieberman lost today? Would it be front page headlines?

Of course not. He is merely chum in the water to agitate the anti-war sharks into a feeding frenzy. The left is trying to stir up some sort of cohesive support within the party. Attempting to focus a rallying point that has been sorely missing these last couple of years. No one has really taken the anti-war extreme left very seriously. The pundits would toss a few talking points their way and act impressed by their antics. But none of them really gave the extremists a second thought. It was Hillary in 2008, full steam ahead, 2006 be damned.

But now the anti-war crowd has a kill. They took down a Senator. Not a very influential or powerful Senator, but one with national name recognition. Will this be enough to sway more important elections this year for instance Santorum v Casey in PA? I don’t know.

What lessons can we learn from Lieberman this year? Democrats do indeed eat their own wounded, up until now that has been a Republican distinctive. What warning can we give Republicans in Connecticut? Don’t be tempted to vote for Lieberman if he runs as an Independant. Remember, he is a LIBERAL, and liberals are not our allies. Stick to your guns and resist the urge to support Joe.

Retirement

One of my favorite political satire sites has stopped updating. Sacred Cow Burgers, run by Jay D. Dyson, has a placard on the main page and all subsequent links into the old site forward to the main page.

I don’t know the reason for the early retirement but, Jay, we will miss your wit and talent.  Keep up the good fight.

Here is the deal. If you have a local Dunham’s Sports near by you can probably pick up an inexpensive AK-47 (except in Kalifornia, ymmv). Starting around $250.00 they sometimes go on sale for $239.00. You can lay it away in many stores and even laying away a couple is ok.

The caveat with these inexpensive com-bloc weapons is that they are usually left overs from the Klinton era Assault Weapons Ban and have been assembled by CAI (Century Arms International) to comply with those outrageous regulations. Most inconvenient is the narrow magwell that allows only single stack magazines to be loaded.

A dremel with a grinding wheel can easily expand the magwell out to accept the much more popular and common double stack magazines. If you are not a do-it-yourselfer then there are usually a few good gunsmiths that can tackle the project inexpensively.

For everyone who checks back every so often to see what I have been doing (all 4 of you), here is a new blog, a new theme, and a new attitude.

Well, not a new attitude, just the old one. And it still sucks.

I have to get home now. Working late and this isn’t work.

This is a Wordpress Blog so enjoy and read read read and click click click my sponsors.
