Google Transit is a great little tool if you are in one of the few test cities. Just so happens that Pittsburgh is one of them. Here is a link to their beta.

Google TransitThis tool allows you to enter a Starting Point, Ending Point, and the date and time you want to arrive or depart. It maps your best route on Google Maps and provides an estimated time of departure and arrival using known Public Transit Schedules for the test cities.

Right now Tampa, Honolulu, Eugene, Pittsburgh, and Seattle have routes in the database. But you sometimes need to play around with your starting point. You may need to begin on a street adjacent or a corner a block or so away to get a proper fit of known bus schedules.

Try this experiement FORM I have to take you from Pitt to anywhere you want in Allegheny County:
BETA: Now you can find out which Port Authority Buses will get you from Pitt and how long it will take.

Hope you have fun with this neat toy and that it helps plan a trip in the near future. I personally hope Chicago is next on the horizon.
