Ok, my son is 8 years old has been asking very nicely these past few months to get a game console for the home. A friend of his has a game console and plays a “Spongebob Squarepants” game that has my kid all jazzed up. The last time I owned a game console that attached to the television was the original Nintendo Entertainment System (the one with Mario Brothers and Duck Hunt). So I am a bit behind the curve when it comes to gaming.

I have been comparison pricing and realized that I don’t want to buy one new out of the box. No brainer.

I have it narrowed down to an XBox or a PlayStation 2. I have heard “modded this” and “modded that”… version 1.0, version 1.6, soldering, bla bla bla. So what is the deal? For an autistic kid and a family that would rather play Chutes and Ladders than Metal Gear, what is the best choice? Which has better titles for learning and family entertainment?

I figure ask here since most of you who read the blog on a regular basis at least share some of my sensibilities. Drop a comment and give a brother a break.
