Al Gore stood up to applause and accepted the little gold statue that is Oscar. His acceptance speech was given. Al Gore then walked off the stage. Just like everyone else who accepted an Oscar during the 79th Academy Awards telecast.
There is one difference. Al Gore does not get to KEEP the Oscar statue. He merely accepted it on behalf of the actual winner, Davis Guggenheim. The Best Documentary Award is not given to the star of the documentary or the actors involved but to the directors or producers.

How is THAT for an inconvenient truth, Al? At an awards ceremony filled with fake lips, fake boobs, fake smiles, and fake lives, Al Gore one upped all the fakery by faking an Academy Award. Who is holding the award for the Academy media picture? Why that is the actual recipient, Davis.

If you watch it again, you’ll see that Gore was not even going to go on stage. Guggenheim grabbed his arm and motioned to Gore urgently, beckoning him to come on stage. Then after his speech, he makes a show of extending the statue to Gore and says, “We share this with you.” Gore did not accept the award on anyone’s behalf. He stood up only after Guggenheim invited him to the stage. He made a brief speech only after Guggenheim spoke. You have misrepresented the event.

beansworth,
You haven’t been paying attention to what’s been going on in America for the last 6 years in regards to Gore. Your response to bigandy is reality based. But reality is not at play in terms of Gore. With Gore, spinning everything he does so it makes him look bad is the operative word. Reality be damned.

You’re right on the money. The media reported the story as Al Gore won the Oscar. On one radio show they actually had a contest - who is the only major politician to win an Academy Award. The truth is he is neither a politician nor and Oscar winner.
