Parallels Desktop For Mac

This is a GREAT product. I am a PC guy, a Windows guy, and I got the certifications to prove it. Back in the day when the Mac IIs were all the rage across university campuses, I worked on them in desktop publishing. The GUI interface, then a relatively new phenomena on the desktop PC, was vastly superior on the MAC compared to the MS-DOS 5.1 and Windows add ons.

But as the PC and Windows encroached more and more into the business field and M$ swallowed up more and more of the competition I left the Apple world to the Apple folk.

Today, with OSX running on Intel boxes and many cross over applications hitting the scene I got to install and run Parallels for Desktops and I love it. Essentially, it is a virtual Windows XP OS running as a separate process on a Mac.

It runs XP better than my Dell does! I still have to perform MS updates and install antivirus protection just like on a Dell box, but I can still have a fully functional Mac OSX running and any number of virtual XPs that my hardware will allow.

In a college environment where the official university OS is Windows the Mac user now has a powerful tool to allow them to access all of the software the university negotiates special discounts yet still retain the use of the powerful Mac platform.

While looking about for a link between Mare Nectaris and Sea Nectar I found out this little tidbit about ambergris and it’s origin.  We should all know by now that ambergris is the secretion of the intestinal tract of the sperm whale.  But I did not realize that the “Smallest Whale” is the Dwarf Sperm Whale?  Norinko, are you the monster?

I have been puzzled by the “sea nectar” reference with the discovery of the Tagruato site and the clue leading to it. But what if the “sea nectar” isn’t from Earth at all?

Sea Nectar is also a name of a physiographic feature on the moon, namely Mare Nectaris (literally the Sea of Nectar). On 01-18-2008 the moon will be waxing towards full (the 23rd will be the Full Moon on 01-2008) and the Mare Nectaris will be visible.

I don’t know if this information amounts to a hill of beans, I am still looking, but I wanted to get everyone who reads through this blog to see if they have stumbled upon (no pun intended) similar information.

01-18-08 Plot Synopsis by Me.

Ok, here is the deal. The monster is the long lost Norinko who disappeared while searching for the “mystery ingredient” to enable her to make the most tasty drink in the world. When Norinko found the sea nectar she of course experimented on herself to see if she could make the drink flavor she was looking for. This probably happened before 1991 since the Jimnu Station opened June 14, 1991.

The experiment was a failure since her recipes would ultimately turn poor Norinko into a hideous whale/beast that would be doomed to forever scour the ocean depths to find more of the “sea nectar”.

Enter Ganu and his deep sea bioprospecting. He encounters some of this sea nectar, maybe around 2005 at the Seimu Station (since it has the highest EURR of any station, don’t forget that Slusho is the second most profitable portion of the Tagruato Corp portfolio).

His dream leads him to perform similar experiments as his long lost mother, but they do not immediately lead him to stumble upon the monstrous consequences of the sea nectar.

Now the focus of Tagruato Corp is to find more of the sea nectar to produce into Slusho.

Flash forward to 2008, the fateful day occurs at the Chuai Station (from the movie’s perspective it will already have been opened for a few months). The monster Norikno happens to be near the newly opening Chuai station, feeding on the rich supply of sea nectar on the sea bottom, when she is disturbed by the drilling exploration. Roused for the first time from her decades long undisturbed binge of sea nectar she is understandably furious. The station is mysteriously lost at sea.

On land, undoubtedly the folks in New York are as messy in 2008 as they are today and the aroma of discarded Slusho cups (and the sea nectar itself) is filling the sewer system of NYC (and consequently the sea water surrounding the island). That irresistible aroma attracts her during her destructive rage and she dashes off to find and punish those others who may have been stealing her precious sea nectar.

That day is 01-18-08.
